    John Crank(Author)
Though it incorporates much new material, this new edition preserves the general character of the book in providing a collection of solutions of the equations of diffusion and describing how these solutions may be obtained.

`... will undoubtedly become an indispensable reference source for all who are concerned with diffusion problems.' Nature.

Review Text

This is the well known text on the Mathematics of Diffusion by Crank. It mainly covers the analytical solution of the diffusion equation in virtually every known approach and for well known geometries (sheet, sphere, cylinder). It also studies the solution in infinite, semi-infinite and for domains with boundaries. Here is the chapter list:1. The diffusion equation2. Methods of solution when the diffusion coefficient is constant3. Infinite and semin-infinite media4. Diffusion in a plane sheet5. Diffusion in a cylinder6. Diffusion in a sphere7. Concentration-dependent diffusion8. Numerical Methods9. Variable diffusion coefficients10. The definition and measurement of diffusion coefficients11. Non-Fickian diffusion12. Diffusion in heterogeneous media13. Moving boundaries14. Diffusion and chemical reaction15. Simultaneous diffusion of heat and moistureIts pretty comprehensive as can be seen from the above. I've used it in the past and will no doubt make use of it in the future. Another excellent text from Oxford Science Publications.
