The fourth edition of this major textbook for senior medical students is based on the highly successful format established by Mr. Peter Jones in previous editions, and will continue to be popular not only with students but with resident hospital staff, general practitioners and paediatricians. All of the chapters which comprise this new edition have been substantially revised or rewritten and are now grouped according to area of special interest which allows for instant reference to the area required. The layout has been redesigned to further facilitate reference and the fourth edition includes a completely new and comprehensive index. Many new illustrations support the text and a number of new photographs demonstrating the rapid advances in organ imaging have been included.

"I would recommend the book for all trainees concerned withpaediatric practice. It should be compulsory reading for candidatesfor the DCH examination and for higher fellowships in paediatricsand general surgery" Child

This book covers paediatric surgery using a common-sense approach, providing enough detail for the undergraduate student or junior doctor to fully understand the aetiology of surgical conditions in a logical, simplified manner. After reading it I felt that I could comfortably diagnose many of the conditions covered and understand the principles of management. It also provides the basic principles of the surgery that follows, standing the student in good stead in the operation theatre without bogging you down with immense details of the operative process. Its all I needed and more for my paediatric surgery rotation as an undergraduate and it is very readable, with illustrations and diagrams that reinforce your learning. Good buy!!
